Broad Daylight
We're getting about 16 hours of daylight, plus those pre-dawn morning light and evening twilight hours. So it's pretty much light for a long long time. And it's getting longer.
Already I'm having difficulty telling myself it's time to go to bed at night. Last night, although I was very tired when I got home from work, I still made supper, baked a bundt cake for today's potluck, baked some cookies for the family to make up for whisking away the bundt cake, did the dishes, bathed the baby, and squeezed in a little TV/internet time.
It was still light outside when I forced myself to go to bed at 10:30. That's an hour past my bedtime as I have to get up at 5:30am and I'm one of those folks who NEEDS 8 hours of sleep.
I think I need to get cracking on those dark curtains for the living/dining room area or foil those windows. Just because it's light outdoors, doesn't mean I should be awake and productive. By June, we'll have more than 19 hours of daylight. That's not going to give me anywhere near 8 hours of peaceful dark sleep time....

Hello, I think Lowes has dark curtains for the windows. Ask other people where they buy theirs? Maybe you don't have a Lowes there. Rebecca found some as she has to sleep during day, beause of working nights,so you might ask her?? Mom
Sleeping during the daylight hours is a bit to get used to. I find that I don't get as much sleep as I did sleeping during the regular dark night hrs. I found my blackout curtians at bed bath and beyond. If you aren't up to making them.... do a search online and you will get lots of hits. :o)
You can get "room blackening" pull shades for now. Then just pull the drapes over them. Will they make it dark enough? Sue
Jeez, Can't you just sleep in the basement? : )
How about those funky eye masks for sleeping?

It's not so much the "sleeping" I'm having a problem with... Our room is almost pitch black.
It's the "slowing down" mode I'm having trouble turning on because the rest of the house is full of daylight until well into the night.
We need some of those curtains they put in hotel rooms that make the room really dark. Unfortunately, we have tons of big windows... So it'll cost a pretty penny. Aluminum foil would be much cheaper! But that's somewhat permanent unless we actually open the windows to let light in.
