Whales and Trails

Around 20,000 California Gray Whales are headed our way. We're trying to figure out a way to take a whale watching cruise out of Seward some time this month to welcome these giant mammals back to their summer feeding grounds.

We've also been looking through our "Hiking in Alaska" book which we purchased 6 years ago before our honeymoon. We're hoping to explore a few trails this summer with the kids. There are lots of good day hikes and overnight hikes. And for the most part, this activity is a good, free way to see Alaska! With the expanded daylight hours during the summer months, maybe we'll be able to go for a hike or two after work some days.

No, actually, we haven't seen any yet. But I'm on the lookout. There's an Aurora Borealis Forecast website which tells you when conditions are good... I'll keep checking that and looking to the sky for the colorful dancing lights.
