Springtime Sunshine & Stardom
Sunrise this morning was at 6:19am and the sun will set at 9:40pm tonight. That's 5 minutes and 40 seconds more daylight than yesterday. So, every 10-11 days we have another hour of daylight.
I still need to add darker curtains to some of our main windows. But Alicia's bedroom and our bedroom are dark at the appropriate times. It's tricky to try and put her to bed when it's broad daylight outdoors.
In other news, Stephen was finally able to hack a trail through the ice in the driveway wide enough to get the Harley out to the street. He took a 3 hour ride yesterday afternoon, going most of the way to Talkeetna before turning around at the Sheep Creek Lodge. There were many, many motorcycles out there as the temperatures creeped up towards 50 degrees. The high today should be 51. Wahoo!
Stephen said when he had a bike in South Carolina, he'd never have considered riding it if the temps dropped to 48 degrees. Now he can't WAIT to get out there for that balmy temperature!
In still other news... We delivered our antique "vampire" sofa to its new home yesterday after the church potluck. I've had that sofa since the mid-1980s when we bought it at a barn auction in Vermont. It had black horsehair upholstery. My dad recovered it with tan velvet. And while it is lovely, it has never fit in with our decor. Not to mention, it's in no way comfortable to sit upon.
So we decided to launch its career in the theatre. We donated it to the Cyrano's Playhouse in downtown Anchorage. They were very pleased to receive it and promised it was on its way to stardom! So if you seen a lovely sofa in a production at Cyrano's, you'll know where it came from.

Great that Stephen was finally able to take the Harley out for a spin. Yeah 50 degrees on a bike feels more like 35-40 in the wind. Whew!
You guys will have to go check out a production and take a picture of the sofa in all it glory. :o)
