Happy Mother's Day 2009

The other two cakes were made for baby showers, both of which were on Saturday. I have another baby shower next weekend.

Mother's Day was pleasant. We went to church and then Donald met us in Eagle River and we all went out to lunch at the Glacier Brewhouse in Anchorage.

Our volcano has yet to erupt lately, although they are saying it will blow again soon. "They" being the Alaska Volcano Observatory. So we're prepared. It was kind of funny watching folks in the lower 48 stock up on face masks and quarantine supplies in case of the swine flu. Everyone here in the Anchorage area already has all that stuff in case of volcanic eruption. Hopefully, most of it is completely unnecessary, for whatever reason...

Those are some amazing cakes. I hope you are keeping pictures of each one for your portfolio. :o)

Wow! They just keep getting better and better. You are so creative!
Yep, each one now gets a little photo shoot before it leaves the house. For two reasons... one for the portfolio, and two in case it meets with catastrophe before its destination!
When we lived in North Charleston, I had a friend who lived two doors down. She baked and decorated cakes for people. She would bake her cakes (all sizes) ahead of time and freeze them. She said it was easier decorating a frozen cake, and by the time she was done, the cake was thawed and ready to go. he made me a batch of Cookie Monster cupcakes for Jim's 4th birthday. BLUE grass!!! Your cakes a great works of art!Love ya, Sue
