Newtok Village Trip Report

I spent the weekend in Newtok as part of the Volunteer Tax & Loan Program through the Alaska Business Development Center. I traveled with two tax preparers who completed almost 60 tax returns for the residents of Newtok, free of charge.



The village of Newtok is located in far western Alaska near the shore of the Bering Sea. The village will be moved to a new location on Nelson Island within the next couple of years as their current location is eroding away at a rate of a foot a day.
