Let it snow...
The snow's been coming down for a few days now and is not expected to stop anytime soon...
Most folks are pretty happy about this. Because without snow, it's difficult to do most of the things that we enjoy about winter in Alaska. These include: skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and snowmobiling.
Unfortunately, the snow does have one major downside. I like to call them "drivers in denial". These are the dingalings who blast past you in the breakdown lane on the highway as if the road is not one giant ice rink. Then, when they spin out and end up in the ditch or worse, crumpled against someone's bumper, they serve to shut down all traffic for hours on end.
So while it's nice to have the snow, it does make for a considerably longer commute at both ends of the work day.
You may recall that I've mentioned there only being one road into and out of Anchorage. If Dingaling Driver in Denial has managed to shut it down, there's little alternative to sitting there on the highway until the wreck's been cleared. Thank goodness for books on CD!
